Captain W. P. Collins, one of the senior masters of the Union Steamship Company, died in Wellington last evening, states a Press Association,telegram. Mr Jas! Hair, who sustained serious injury to an eye on the golf links a fortnight ago, was removed to a private hospital at Richmond yesterday for an operation. To-day, however, Mr Hair snowed considerable improvement, and the operation was not performed.
