The Prime Minister (Hon. .T. G. Coates) is due in Xondon today. Lieut.-Colonel Thorns, Chief Staff Officer Southern Command, is on an official visit to Nelson. He js accompanied by Captain Stedman, N'.Z.S.C. The appointment is announced of Mr William Watson Bird, M.A.. at, present Senior Inspector of Schools in the Wellington district, to the position of Chief Inspector of Primary Schools in place of Mr T. B. Strong. M.A., B.Sc, recently appointed Assistant-Director of Education.—l'ress Association.
On Sunday 'last Mr Robert Parker began his 49th year of service as organist and choirmaster of St. Paul's Pro Cathedral. Wellington.
