Air Wheeler, emissary, proceeded to Sianfu recently lo arrange the evacuation of British missionaries detained by soldiers. He. sent a telegram to the British Legation at Pekin stating that it was due to the assistance rendered by the Governor of Shensi province that most of the foreign missionaries in Sianfu had safely evacuated the, town. Two fresh outbursts of unti-foreignism occurred at Chengleh (Hunan province) and Ningpo (Chekiang), where British property was attacked, in several instances with personal violence.

FRENCH GUNBOAT FIRED ON

ONE SAILOR KILLED AND ANOTHER WOUNDED

It is reported that Chinese troops between Wusueh and Kinkiang fired on the French gunboat Alert, killing one sailor and wounding another sailor. A French admiral with two gunboats left Shanghai for the scene.
