The sanatorium is possible owing to the will of Mrs Sarah Grovegradv, who left £300,000, which was a. sixth of her estate, toi institutions devoted to the care of- dogs, cats and pit ponies, arid the residue-was fo .be devoted to the creation.of'an animal benevolent institute.
