RUGBY FOOTBALL
PROPOSED VISIT OF BRITISH TEAM (Unit.ed Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The New South Wales Rugby Union has written to the New Zealand Union suggesting that a British loam should he invited to visit this side of I lie world. If N,mv Zealand agrees the matter could be forwarded when the New South Wales team visits England next year. The year 1929 was suggested as the date but tlie letter urged that preliminary steps should he taken at once. As no British side has been out since 1908 it is believed such a visit would prove most attractive. Discussing (lie proposal, the New Zealand Union felt that with the African lour in prospect it could not expect I lie men to find time to play tlie visitors the following year, and while agreeing to the proposal decided in favour of 1930. The question of a visit from a French team was also discussed. It was pointed out that an invitation had been sent. It was decided to cable Mr Harris, with the ,Maori team, to ascertain what the Frenchmen meant to do.
