ROAD BOARD MEETING

At the monthly meeting of the Suburban North Hoad Hoard, there were present Messrs \V. Frost (chairman), W. L). Thompson, T. VV. Anderson, A. I. Hill. .Messrs C. J. Dt-ncker and F. 11. Gill were excused from attendance.

The overseer reported --"There has been practically no work done on any of the district roads during the last month, all the roads being in very good order. The daymen of all sections had been instructed not to do any work unless it was absolutely necessary, and as far as 1 can se e nothing has been done, The exceptional fine weather experienced during the month of September lias no doubt been a great help to the condition of the roads.

"1 have made an inspection of the threatened breakaway of the side of the laid Valley road opposite Mr Holmes's property. 1 found Hurt the logs that had been placed there many years ago to protect the road, were practically rotten ,und likely to collapse at any time. I would suggest that they be replaced by a short length of stone wall.

'-Illere is a length of about 20 chains on Cable Bay road which requires the watertable cleaned out, as it is causing Hie road to become very narrow with gorse and other rubbish growing thereon, and causing inconvenience to uersons using this road.

"Air E. S. Bowden, of Glenduan, has made a start with the formation of the new road Jeadingito his section, and hopes to have the work completed before the next, meeting of the board. He has also made an application to me for •i progress payment." It was resolved to make Mr Bowden a progress payment of £3. The report was then approved. Messrs W. Bout and Son advised the Boa>vJ that the policy covering the boards workmen against accidents would expire on the 7th October, 1926. --Jhc clerk was instructed to renew the policy lor a furl her term of 12 months with the. Th e clerk was instructed to write to the owner of adjacent land in reference to the growth of gorse and ldackberries on-sides of Cable Ray road, asking him to have it cut and cleared away, as it ■ s the board s intention to have about 20 chains of water-tabling done.
