810 INCREASE IN TAXATION

The Auditor-Oeneral's report shows that receipts from Stale taxation last, year equalled £4/15/4 per head of the population, compared with £2/2/9 in 1915TG, and (lie interest on'public debt for the same period increased from £4/4/7 per head to £5/6/4, In the Assembly the. Government introduced a. bill increasing the cheque duty by 100 per cent, to twopence. It is estimated that this will yield £50,000 annually.
