IMPRINT'S EJECTION
(To The Editor.)
Sir,—ln your paper, a few days ago, there appeared some theories of a Christchurch gentleman as to possible causes for Imprint's nomination being rejected. All these possibilities were quite justified indeed, but he' might, have gone further and quoted many other possible happenings—all theories however. To my mind there can be no question as to Mr Louisson's strong position in this matter. Indeed, I contend that were he to fake Supreme Court proceedings for a mandamus, to enforce tho acceptance of his nomination of Imprint he would he bound to succeed.
Most organisations provide themselves with a private Post Office box, which 1 contend, becomes a part of their business premises, as it, is to Ibis box that they invite a I business communications to be seat.
If therefore, a. correspondent attends to details in such a manner as to have his letter in the box of a linn or organisation on a certain date, it must be claimed that the said organisation received the .said leter on such date —inasmuch as Ihe letter was on their business premises— -or part thereof—(to wit, their acknowledged official repository for all correspondence), on said date. 1 further contend that the non-clear-ance of such Post Office box, _ either through illness, neglect, intention, or any other reason, should not invalidate Ihe legality of the Trotting Club's having received the nomination above referred to on the date that, the notice of registered letter was placed in their postal box, and T fee) that insistence on Mr Louisson's part accompanied with threatened Supreme Court proceedings would, even yet, bring about the desired end. I am not a racing man, and am in no way interested in that phase of Ihe question, bill I recognise the fact that any Nelsoiiiau has Ihe right to protest against the questionable treatment of any Nelson matter, be it even a mere racehorse.---T am etc., F. WILLTAM BEALE. Nelson. 13th Oct.
