RUGBY FOOTBALL PRESENTATION OF TKOPHIKS In tho past tho presentation of trophies, won during Hie season, usually took place at a small social gathering, but on this occasion il was decided to hold a. dance and so give the public an opportunity to be present. On Friday evening this dance, organised by tho'Motueka. Rugby sub-Union, was held in the Institute Hall, and the interest taken by the residents of the district in llugb'y was fully demonstrated by the large attendance. Mr Harry Manny (president of the Sub-Union)' with "a lew appropriate words of praise and encouragement to each recipient, presented the trophies as follows: Senior Trophies.-—Senior cup, Muia cup, and the seven-a-side shield, were accepted by Mr E. I.enseniaiiu on behalf of the Tikaokan Club. Mr Renseniann (captain), in returning thanks, said that the Tikaokaos' success was due to good team work', and lie wished to thank the players For tinway in winch Ihey had co-operated with him during the season: he also thanked those who had given moral support. Benefit shield, won by Wanderers (Mr R. Fowler). The president congratulated the team on winning this trophy, as they had battled against odds with only ;* hare fifteen. Junior Trophies.---Junior cup and Falconer Cup (champion of champions), won by Tikaokaos (Mr V. Dnunniond). Seven-a-side shield, won by Dovedale. Third Class.— (.'hittenden .shield and Hogan seven-aside cup, won bv High School (Mr (!. MeNab). The president ,on handing over the trophies, said that ho saw no reason why some- of the High .School players should not be included in a .senior learn next year. Mr 0. A. Banner (headmaster), expressed the hope that the boys would carry on and shortly become seniors. He asked the old players to look after the boys, when they were drafted to club teams. Excellent music for th ( , dancing was provided by the Paramount Orchestra, extras being played by Mesdames MacInglis. W. IF. Green." Miss 0. Brougham, and Mr A. Hunt. Mr G. W. Boundy officiated as M.O. A committee of ladies successfully carried through thp supper arrangements.
