WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
PROPOSAL STRONGLY CRITICISED •NOTHING BHT INTER-STATE SOCIALISM" (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (AuHt.riliau & N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Oct, 8. The "Daily Telegraph's" diplomatic correspondent says that M. Lomheur's project for a world economic conference by the .League was recently vigorously criticised in the (oinmon wealth Parliament as an insidious attempt' at interference with individual States' fiscal freedom. M, Louclieur's latest utterance on the subject lias intensified in dominion circles this mistrust, and something will be heard on the subject al the Imperial Conference . Lord Cecil's winning on Ihe suhjecl al the. League Assembly was .singularly opportune. Al. Luucheur's conception is nothing but inter Slide Socialism .and an endeavour to entrust an international body under the League with control of output and the apportionment of the natural resources of various slates. 'This explains why M. Loueheur's plan was popular with Continental -Socialists.
