YOUNG WOMAN FOUND DEAD
DISTRESSING OCCURRENCE AT UPPER TAKAKA
The Upper Takaka settlement sus- ' tained a painful shock yesterday when it became known thai Miss Avis Alberta Field, in charge of the public school, had been found dead hanging from a tree. Deceased was greatly esteemed, and was looked upon as a teacher with special qualifications. Only 24 years of ago, the late Miss Field, whose parents reside in Collingwood, went through the Training College at Wellington in 1922-23, and was subse-. quenlly appointed to the Upper Takaka School. ft During the week deceased was off duty for a day or two owing to ill-health. An inquest is being held this afternoon before a Justice of (lie Peace and a jury of four.
