NELSON ASSQOATION MEETS The annual general meeting of the Nelson Lawn Tennis Association was held in the Institute last evening, .the president, .Mr 0 M. Rout, being in theeha,ir Affiliated clubs were represented by the following delegate?: NeLssin Club* Messrs C. M. Rout, C J. Townsend, W B Stead and T. Whitwell; Wainiea Association. -Messrs C. Dec, ('.. Wilkens and G. Wilkens; Y.M.C.A.. .Messrs A. Nightingale and W. Savage; Church Clubs, Messrs R. Best. D. Johnston, J. Rodlev and R. H. Page; Victory, Messrs W. Watson and C. Betts. Before the commencement of the business the chairman referred to the loss the Association had sustained through the death of Mr W. Bunten, who had taken great interest in lawn tennis matters in this province. ANNUAL REPORT The annual report stated inter alia : Management Committee: The Committee has met on five occasions, the attendance at the meetings being as follows—Messrs W. Bunten (4); F. H. J. Townsend (5); T. Whitwell (4): G. Dee (2); J. Nightingale (2); A. Nightingale (3); A. Hutson (2). The number of affiliated clubs in the Nelson Association is now 21. The total membership on tho 31st July, 1920. was 810. Nelson Championship: 'I he. Nelson Provincial Championships were held on the 29th and 30th January and tho Ist and 2nd February, the tournament again proving a great success. The following were the results:—Men's championship singles, J. Anderson (Wangaimi); ladies' championship singles, Miss S. Acheson (Nelson); men's, championship doubles, F. J- H. Townsend and W. L. Cannington; ladies' championship doubles. Miss S. .Acheson and Mrs Me Cabe ; combined championship doubles, Mrs Richmond (Takaka) and W. IC Snodgrass; boys championship singles, F. J. Silke; girls' championship singles. Miss Del St. John; men's handicap singles, J. Anderson; ladies' handicap singles Miss Del St. John; combined handicap doubles, Mrs Rout and W. Harris; ladies' handicap doubles, Misses Del St John and C. Campbell Smith; men's handicap doubles, Finlayson and V. Simmonds. Matches: Our Association played home and home matches with the Marlborough Association, winning on both occasions. We hope these matches will become an annual event between 'both Associations. We hope to arrange matches with the Wellington Association during the coming season. Thanks: The thanks of the Association are due to the Marlborough Association lor the hospitality shown to us during our visit; to the secretaries of the affiliated clubs for assistance during the year and to the press for the prominence shown to lawn tennis matters. The balance sheet, showed the Association to be in a very satisfactory position. The report ami balance sheet as read were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers for the coming year resulted: —President, Mr C. iM. Rout; vice-presidents, Presidents of all affiliated clubs and -Messrs 0. Broad and H. R. Duncan; secretary, Mr W. L. Cannington; treasurer, Mr F. Snodgrass; auditor, Mr H. J. Thornton; delegates on New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs Mayo, \V. Cannington and C. Dee; management committee, Messrs (!. Wilkins, F. J. Townsend, T. Whitwlel, J. Rodley, C Dee, C. Belts and A. Nightingale. It was decided that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr Mayo (Wellington) in appreciation of his services as local delegate, on the New Zealand .Association. GENERAL It was decided that the Association bear half the expenses with the. Brook Club for the use of a telephony during the summer months. In the matter of club competitions the secretary was instructed to write to the various affiliated clubs in regard to entering in club matches, to be arranged by the Association. If. Was decided on the motion of Mr Nightingale, seconded by Mr Townsend that it- lie a, recommendation to. the management, committee that town and country matches be. arranged for the coming season. Mr Cannington suggested that a silver button be presented to every competition winner, in addition to the trophy which he receives. Another delegate suggested that the championship cup winner be given a miniature. This matter was left to the management committee. -

It was resolved <m (lie motion of Mr Nightingale, seconded by Mr Watson, that jt "black list" be lormed and the secretaries of clubs notify ihe. Association of any names they wished to be placed on the list, and it shall be the. duly of the secretary of the Association to notify all affiliated clubs of the names so sent in. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring officers was carried.
