A RUNAWAY CAR
TWO PEDESTRIANS KNOCKED DOWN SHOP WINDOWS SMASHED (United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. This Day. A motor ear owned hv Percy Brisford was left standing in Durham street and somehow it got away. It dashed down an incline across Queen street, knocked down two pedestrians, and smashed a verandah post and shop windows. One of the victims, a Maori named Moaho Tukeno, was seriously injured and the other, W. R. Powlev suffered cuts and abrasions. While the car was rushing down the street, a young man leaped on to the running hoard and twisted the steering wheel divert the car's course from a lady and two little girls looking in a shop window.. They were saved, hut the car could not he brought to a standstill owing to the young man’s precarious position, and carried along to do the damage mentioned above.
