“MORE THAN FULL”
A TROUBLESOME PASSENGER
RETURNED TO THE WHARF Presenting a rather dishevelled appearance, and a dark bruise under one of bis eyes, a man stepped into the dock at the Magistrate’s Court today to answer a charge of drunkenness. On the charge being read defendant said he knew nothing about it, but would plead guilty. Constable Lumber, who represented ilic Police, said that defendant was a passenger on the Nikau to Wellington on Saturday evening, but his conduct was so annoying that the vessel put back to port and lauded him on the wharf, where he was taken in charge. He was subsequently bailed out for 10/-. He was a first offender.
“I will treat you leniently this time,’’ remarked the .Magistrate ’ (Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M.) “blit von will go to gaol if this is repeated.” Defendant intimated that lie would riot repeat the act. He informed the Court tliat he had “been on the square” for 4/ months, but had met a few West Coast friends. He admitted that he must have got ■“full”—in fart “more than full.”
The Magistrate; You had better try and double the period next time. Fined IQ/- anfi costs.
