AN AGENCY TERMINATED

NEW PLYMOUTH, June 20.
Tlie Taranaki Chamber of Commerce recently drew the attention of the Oovernment to the fact that .Distributors Ltd., had terminated the agency held by a local linn, apparently because one of its heads, as president of the chamber, hud protested against the flour duty and embargo. A reply has now been received from the Minister of Industries and Commerce, saying that Distributors Ltd., were within their legal rights in terminating the agency. A further protest has been sent, to the Minister, directing his attention to a circular sent by Distributors, Ltd., to agents, stating that it has come to the company’s notice that derogatory statements have been made against the company, and that the directors consider it an unfriendly act, and that unless it ceases at once it will result in the cancellation of agreements with the parties responsible. The chamber leiterates its protest against the attempt to burke public diseiission on a matter of such vital public interest as the duties or embargo oh ifhported flour.
