oMEETING OF TOWN BOARD The ordinary meeting of the Tahunanui Town Board was held in the Town flail on Monday There were, present : Col. J. K. .Hume {chairman), M, O'Sullivan, L. Ingham, W. Carter, F. A. Uami'drd; 0. P. Stariuaril; and A. Stowart. Accounts amounting to £9l liis fid were passed for payment. Following correspondence was dealt with:— From the Volunteer Fire Brigade, asking the Board to allow a deputation, consisting of the captain and lieutenant, to interview them so as to place before the. Hoard several matters in connection with the brigade. From Nelson City Council, enclosing the apportionment of heavy traffic license fees. From Miss S. E. Newth, drawing the Board's attention to the road in front 0t her residence (already under consideration). From White New Zealand LeagW».",vnelosiirg letter and pamphlets, asking' the Board's support towards the realisation ol the objects of tho League.—Received From Medical Officer of Health enclosing his report on drainage.—Deferred to special meeting. Messrs W. Liddle and F. Hubert), interviewed the Board on behalf of the Fire Brigade, and asked if the Board could assist them, in the cost of installing the electric light in the fire station, and tho insurance of the men, as their funds were very small, and they were unable to meet the expense now due; pointing out they were doing all they possibly could to raise funds to bring the Brigade up to efficiency; also asking if if little more accommodation could be given at tho' Town Hall.—The chairman advised them that the Board would give their request favourable consideration. The deputation thanked tho Board for their sympathy and courtesy and retired.
Resolved, by Messrs A. Stewart and M. O'Sullivan, that the Board subsidises the funds of the Fire Brigade by £2O. Resolved, by Messrs A. Stewart and W. Carter, that a notice board be erected on Parker's road forbidding removal of sand without a permit. Resolved, that tenders be called for the removal |of night-soil j and that the Town Clerk he. authorised to have a path made from the Hall to the conveniences.
