The death is reported of Mr F. G. Hood, professional to the Miramar Golf Club. Wellington. Deceased, who won the New Zealand professional championship at Nelson a'year or two ago, contracted pneumonia following on an attack of influenza. He was very popular and respected among all he came in contact with, and his loss will be greatly deplored. A widow and three children survive. Captain Isaac Corbett died suddenly at Auckland yesterday morning. He was President of the Auckland branch of the Merchant Service Guild and was to have, been one of the assessors at the marine inquiry concerning the wreck of the Manaia.- Press Association. His many friends will learn with regret that Dean Askew is at present an inmate of Te Rangi Hospital, and that it was found necessary for him to under, go a serious operation last evening. The operation was successful, and the Dean is progressing as well as might bo expected under the circumstances.
