THE NELSON FRUIT BOARD
‘ (To The Editor.) y t Yesterday’s , meeting of fruitgrowers when deciding on.a committee d| .three., to, act in conjunction with JNelson member of "'the Control Board and the Federation director, who is to bo,the chairman, apparently overlooked the fact that the former represents Nelson,, Marlborough, and Canterbury, and the next, representative might not be a resident of Nelson. Likewise Mr Brash, secretary of the Butter and Control Board and also the Nelson Director of the .Fruitgrowers’ Federation, resides in Wellington, and therefore cannot also act as chairman of the proposed Nelson Board. In view of these points, the delegates to the Dominion Conference should endeavour to have the number of the members of the local board of committee increased to six, particularly as two-thirds of the total trade of the Federation, and also export fruit, is accounted for by the Nelson district With six members, the new committee would, for all practical purposes be equal to the old Provincial Council which did fine work in reopening export after the close fci the war. ■■ I am, etc., “STRONG ORGANISATION FOR NELSON.”
