MOTOR ’BUS DAMAGED
(United Press Association.) ' "" /-WELLINGTON,- This Day A 22-seater ’bus, belonging to the Wellington Motor .’Bus Company, caught fire late last night near the Basin Re- , serve. There were no passengers aboard at the time. Driver Gibson.was investigating engine trouble that developed on the run in from Island Bay, and leaned- over to lift the- bonnet cover, when flames burst out from the engine. , The brigade was quickly on the spot and quenched the fire, which scorched the engine considerably but did not'damage the body of the ’bus. The driver attributed the trouble to someone putting water in' the causing backfire, a practice which he states has been prevalent lately.
