BAPTISMAL SERVICE The Congregational Church on Satur-,,. day afternoon last was the scene of interesting' and impressive function.’-. , The occasion was that of a b'aptismaL .. and dedicatory service at which no lessthan fourteen infants and youngchild-' ren were baptised. .In addition to, - th'e . parents of the children, a-’ good jjumber , ; of friends assembled, thus evincing .their Y , interest in the baptismal service and in A. the “Dedication of the Cradle Roll’’which followed. In his address, the. Rev. 11. J. Ralph spoke of the sacredness and importance of the service; in that this public declaration is an avowal of the fact tliat the child is part and parcel of the kingdom of Cod-. The sacredness of the charge given to the parents, and an appeal to them to give their children '? every opportunity to keep in; vital touch with the church, closed an earnest address. In the prayer that . followed, the guidance and guardianship ol God was v . ; asked for, that their lives might be upright through all the days, and that' \ the vows of tile parents might be faithfully kept. . j The hymn “Father now ws . thank Thee” was then sung by 15 small children of the Primary Department of the Sunday School. Then followed the dedication of the ‘Cradle Roll” with an account of its A working and methods. It was; stated’ . that the superintendent keeps in touch with each child by visits to its home -• and by other means showing a real And vital interest in its spiritual development. .The servioe- closed with the Benediction. Mrs Ralph, superintendet of the primary department, then invited all- v present to afternoon tea in the infant room, which had been tastefully arrang- ‘ ed for the occasion. Here a pleasant half-hour was spent, the care and attention bestowed upon the little ones sending the mhome radiantly happy.
