Tlie nation’s wealth is being depleted beyond precedent, declared Commoner Hannon, chairman of the Conservative Parliamentary Industrialists, speaking in Birmingham. He estimated the country’s loss as a result of the coal stoppage at £8,00,000 per day at present. “Jf tlie stoppage lasts another fortnight.” ’Commoner Hannon said in eonelusion, “the loss will be £10,000,000 daily.” RUSSIAN MONEY FOR MINERS (Published in The Times.) ./ LONDON, June 18. The Times Riga correspondent states that red trade unions issued a note to the world which says: .“To expect the Soviet to forbid Russian 'unions to help British miners Is totally to misunderstand the spirit’of tlie’Soviet- Government. Tlie unions have helped and are helping, and will help the British miners because their cause is our cause.” The newspaper Izvestia says: “Contributions were not the real cause of the note, hut they served as a convenient pretext’to begin Britain’s carefully planned -assault on Russia, to make us pay; our debts.” .
