WAIMEA COUNTY AFFAIRS

(To The Editor.) Sir, —That ‘cloud of obscurity” which still troubles Cr Wilkinson, was certainly very dense before the advent of Or Derry man; as witness the fact that ratepayers tiovei; knew where their rates were spent, nor the reason why the Waimea County Council burdened the ratepayers with the largest county overdraft in Now Zealand, in proportion to its resources. Alas! everybody knows now that the “keep it dark” policy of former years was mainly responsible <or the present deplorable state of affairs re road boards and “declared” main roads m this county. If Cr Wilkinson will allow me to share that precious half an hour with him, to dispense all that is left of that “cloud of obscurity,” at his proposed meetings in this district, I shall be happy to respond to his kind invitation.—l am etc., H. G. BERRYMAN. Stanley Downs, s June 18th 1926.
