NEW CARD GAMES

One of the most amusing of the new card games is based on a travesty of English history. It -is perhaps not quite so up to date as the new wireless game, the object of which is to obtain a complete set of any one station. Another newcomer with modern tendencies is a motor game, the players of which are frequently involved in a . smash. This game is played with ninety-six cards, and is usually noisy enough to drive bridge players c-razy. There/is another rather riotous game which lias cards depicting the contents bills of •various well-known newspapers and periodicals, and one of rather a different order, which has been dedicated by permission to the late Speaker of the House of Commons. There is a game founded on Noah’s Ark, which should amuse children ; as well as rnanv forms of snap arid several games, with cards illustrated by pictures of nursery favourites. But the happy family, with Mr Potts the painter and Mr Bull the butcher, is still being sold, although it must be one of the original pictorial card games, and is now getting on in years. One or two of the new games seem likely to become popular, hut the majority will not last longer 1 than a season, says a writer in an exchange, which maybe, is all that is really expected of them.
