HOSPITAL DOCTORS

ONE ALWAYS AVAILABLE Mr T. Hewetson stated at the meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday afternoon that it had been mentioned to him that at times there was no doctor in attendance at the hospital. He asked if such had been the case. The Resident Surgeon: We have been absent on occasions. Mr Hewetson: There seems to be a little anxiety about the matter. There should be always one here. The Resident Surgeon said that both doctors were never absent at the same time if there were any serious cases in the institution. Tf they were both absent it was known where they were and they could be called. The chairman: There is always a doctor available.

Mr Hewetson: It is just as well, to relieve the public feeling about the matter.

The chairman said that whenever the Resident Surgeon was away lie always rang him up and arrangements were made in case of emergency. Mr Berryman said it should be made clear that the junior house surgeon resided on the premises. The chairman said there was no reason for anxiety.
