TWO GALLOPING HORSES RIDERS BADLY SHAKEN* PECULIAR ACCIDENT ON EPSOM SHOW GROUNDS 'United Pre6B Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Two horses were killed and their rid era badly shaken as the result of ;i peculiar accident at Epsom show grounds during the course of Die third mounted rifles sports tourney. The accident, which occurred in a wide open paddock some distance from the ground where the sports were being held, was caused by a collision between two troopers who were exercising their mounts prior to the commencement of one of the events. The horses were galloping in opposite directions, when they met head on. Both riders, Troopers R. Fisher (Patumahoe) and 0. Nicholls ('Fapatoetoe) were thrown to the ground, and it was at first thought they had been seriously injured. They were taken on stretchers to the doctor's ten!, and were "later conveyed to hospital for examination. The men were badly shaken, but escaped serious injury. Of the two horses, one was killed outright and the other was destroyed a few minutes after the accident.
