FOR NELSON OROWERS FRUIT COULD HAVE RE EX cool STORED LOCALLY Commenting on the position ill Wellington and the lad that .Nelson growers were not advised of Ihe congestion the I’residenl of the Nelson Exporters* Association emphasised the need for a live council to watch the interests of Nelson growers. I here was also need for the Nelson growers to have a representative in Wellington to keep in close touch with supply malit rs, especially in view of this province exporting something like 400.000 eases of apples. Had Hie Federation advised Nelson growers of the actual position in Wellington ariaimenicids could hake been made to put tiie fruit in cool stores here. as space would have been available for probabiv 75.009 cases. The fear was expressed that fruit held in ordinary goods sheds ill Wellington would seriously deteriorate.
