PIKIKIRUNA PASS
NAME SUGGESTED FOR TAKAKA HILL ROAD A suggestion that is well worth considering lias been made by a visitor to Nelson, who was greatly impressed by the beauty of the drive over the range between Riwaka and Takaka. He pointed out- that this really magnificent motor trip would be much more, likely to appeal to the tourist who was making up iiis itinerary if it was given some more distinctive and attractive title than that by which it is generally known, the Tar-kicker Hill. Now the range over which tlie road is taken bears the oupbonio-us Maori name of Piki-ki-runa. The summit of the road might well he called the Pikikiruna Pass, and the road he termed the Pikimruna Pass road.
