At to-day's civic reception to Sir Ernest Rutherford the Mayor (Air Lock) wore the mayoral robes and chain re eently presented. to the city by two anonymous donors. The robes are of black silk poplin. handsomely embroidered with ermine. The Town Clerk also wore robes and a wig also a. gift by the

same donor ns me Mayoral robes. The mayoral chain is a very line sample of the craftsman’s art. It is of solid massive heavily gilt silver, the medallions being inscribed with the names of the various Alarms and their years of office from 1874 to the present day.
