GROUP SETTLEMENT
FAILURE OF WEST AUSTRALIAN SCHEME(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) PERTH, This Day. The Royal Commission has recommended the abandonment of the group settlement scheme in the south west, the conditions for wives being such as to drive men off the land. There was evidence that not more than 50 per cent, would succeed and up to the 31stApril last 31 per cent, of the migrants and 41 per cent, of the Australians had left.
