Sir James Allen, interviewed by the Daily Mail oiv the report on overseas trade-, stated that British manufacturers would not ,ro so. far as Germans and Americans in meeting the detailed requirements of the dominions. It- was only now that British manufacturers were considering modifications, of motor cars suitable to New Zealand conditions to compete with American oars. Although New Zealand buys the highest amount of British goods per capita, nine of the thirty-three million of imports were supplied by foreign countries, of which the United States supplies six.
