On Wednesday night-, the first of the entertainment was_giveu by tlie Wakefield Minstrels m the jlowu Hall to a crowded and appreciative house. The first part of the programme consisted of songs, duets, instrumental items ail'd recitations, all of which were enthusiastically received and in nearly every case heartily encored. For the second part of the programme the party revived the old time nigger minstrels, and such was their reception that one wonders why this form of entertainment is so seldom seen. During the evening, the chairman, Mr C. 11., Chamberlain, congratulated the party on the excellent programme and. on behalf of tlie School Committee thanked them for the services so freely and generously given.
