DR. MANNIX
AND FREEDOM OF SLTGO (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, July 14. A special meeting of the Sligo Corporation rejected by 11 votes to 9 a proposal to enforce the resolution passed in 1920 conferring the freedom of the town on Dr. Mannix because of his special services to the Irish republic. The Councillor who led the opposition to granting freedom declared that the proposal introduced politics and therefore should not he entertained.
