CHRISTCHURCH, Tl.is Day. Rain set in steadily last evening, and continued over North Canterbury, causing heavy loss to farmers, as early lambing is suffering severely. The raia though from the south-east, is eeuti Ironically warm.
FLOODS IN OAMARU DISTRICT OAMARU, This Day. Rain, which started on Monday morning, developed into a heavy downpour last night, amounting in some places to a deluge, in Waireka Valley in particular. At Elderslie, the wafer is reported lo he three feet deep on some parts of the road. The Kakanui River is in high flood and parts of the roads from Ma.heno to Kakanui and Kuroheka are under water. No damage is reported so far. It is still raining lightly.
