CRASHES INTO A STREAM

THAMES, Tlhs Day. . Just after passing a bend in the Kauri Timber Company’s log railway on Sunday afternoon a truck containing a number of workmen and sightseers jolted off the rails and crashed down a 20-foot bank into a swiftly running stream. A workman named A. J. AlcDuff, aged 46, was pinned under the truck and in danger of drowning when a companion came to his assistance and held his head above water until he could be extricated front a painful position. Examination at the hospital disclosed a cut head and injuries to the lower part of the belt, the full extent of which lias riot vet been ascertained. All other members of the party were more or less severely bruised.
