AT NELSON BOWLING GREEN TO-MORROW . !

The garden party to-morrow afternoon at the Nelson Bowling Club grounds is assured of success given fine weather. ■lt will..give the residents of. Nelson an opportunity to see what- the club has done in turning an unsightly hollow into a beauty spot. Three years ago complaints were made through the Press, at a few gum trees being cut down, but ♦heir place has been taken by native trees, fawns, rose garden, rockeries,.etc., and now a magnificent entrance, on. a, town reserve, to be. a.home for alpine plants from every. mountain range known. The entrance takes the form of rockeries, rock paths, stream and water lily ponds. This is being made by the Rock Garden Society, with the help of the,City, Council. A large spaco has been cut into the slope at the end, of Church Street and the Council has metalled this to enable cars, etc. to l turn without difficulty. The garden party is, being held to .enable the Society to carry on the rockery a further sixty feet. Captain Moncrieif has arranged : for. a clock golf competition on the side lawn of the bowling green at the garden party on Saturday, and rMs N. Kerr lias donated two prizes, One for ladies and the other for men. A collection of rock plants will be competed for on novel lines. Boy Scouts who helped on several Saturday afternoons to clear the site for the rockery, have received through Mr W. H. Savage an invitation to the opening, of the rockery and afternoon tea,
