ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

-MEETING OF, MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

At a meeting of the management committee of the Nelson Football Association there were present: Messrs H. S. Claughton (chairman), Beveridge, J. S. Walter, W. C. Walter, Robinson, Preen, Parkinson, Kerr, Stewart and the secretary. ' ’

The question of appointing a delegate from this association to represent the association at the Council of tho New Zealand Football Association’s annual general meeting was discussed. Mr J. S. Walter offered to act as delegate, and on the motion of Mr Robinson, seconded by Mr Stewart, the offer was unanimously accepted. - ' It was resolved to thank Messrs Newman Bros., W. Richards, and the members of the Redwood’s Football Club for' services rendered to the association in helping to entertain the Chinese team during its sojourn in Nelson. It was also resolved that a vote of thanks be recorded in the minutes to Messrs' S. J. Stewart, ,T. S. Walter and J. Kerr, members of the executive, and the dance committee fpr services rendered to 1 tho associatioh in connection with the. recent tour.

It- was resolved, on the motion of Mr J. &>. Walter and seconded hv Mr S. J. Stewart, that the sincere thanks of tile executive be recorded in the minutes to the Association’s selectors, for the manner in which they had carried out their duty and for the wise choice they had made in the selection of the team to play the Chinese. The selectors are to be congratulated, and have the entire confidence of the management committee. The Nelson representative team is also to be congratulated on the very satisfactory game it played, every member thereof more than' justifying his selection in the team. The game as played by the team in the Chinese match ‘ gave an impetus to the soccer code in this district, and no doubt will be a potent factor for the future success of •the round ball game. A vote of thanks was recorded to the local press for publicity received during the season.
