WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr Hudson recently asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps, if any., are being taken by bis Department to combat the ravages of mealy bug in orchards.
Mi - NosWorfhy replied that all efforts in l.hi.« and other countries to find methods for controlling tin's pest b yspraying having failed, the Department of Agriculture has arranged for the importation of a natural enemy, the eryptolacmus ladybird. Consignments of this ladybird are expected to arrive shortly arid it i.« proposed to breed supplies for distribution from the biological laboratory in the coming spring.
