WELLINGTON, Aug. 14 At- the Harbours Conference the following remits ware adopted -.—That the section of the Act dealing with the an-| 'iiual- election of chairman be amended to provide that nominations for that office be lodged not less than seven days previous to the statutory date on which the. election is held; that consideration be* given to the suggestion iof the Marine department that section 33 ol the Harbours Act 1923 be altered to provide that reasoubble additional cost shall be based on the, ratio which members of harbour board bear toward members of the local .'authority or authorities participating in tho election; that section 45 of the Harbours Act 1893 be amended to provide for the sarfte notice being given of statutory meetings as is required for special meetings, namely, four days ; that section 37 of Harbours Act 1923 be amended by substituting the words 30th day of September for the words 31st day of September in this section; that the Finance Act 1920 and the Trustee Act 1903 be so amended as to authorise the investqient of trust moneys in loans of harbours boards not having rating powers;* that power be given to trustees and friendly societies to invest moneys in harbour board loans; that the- discharge of sewage into a harbour be an offence; that hoards should be entitled to compensation, for land taken or injuriously affected by. the •resumption of land by the Government; that contracts be not necessary where tho amount to be expended docs not exceed
