NELSON’S LAKE DISTRICT
GOOD SCENIC ASSET
TWO MILES OF ROAD FORMATION URGENTLY NEEDED
Motor transport has brought Nelson’s Lake district within easy reach c the city so far as distance is concerned. There is, however, a porlion of the route some two miles in length, that goes a long way towards depriving Nelson of the great scenic assets. The road to Top-house has some lino stretches for motoring—some of the best in the district, hut- the two last miles of the five miles from Tophouse to Lake Rotoiti are most unsatisfactory. At yesterday afternoon’s meetingof the Nelson Progress League, Dr Gibbs referred to this road, and on his suggestion it was decided to ask the members for the district (Messrs Atmore and Hudson) to name a. date where it would he convenient for them to visit - the locality with a. view to securing their co-operation in securing a- Government grant for the road. Dr Gibbs and Mr ,T. Allan Mitchell offered to take the members to the Lake.
The road will not only serve in giving access to Lake Rotoiti, it will he part of (lie road from the Wairnu to Lhe West Coast.
