WIRELESS ON SMALL VESSELS
TO BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED
(Emm our Parliamentary Correspondent)
WELLINGTON. This Day
As a result of the Jlipple disaster, regulations regarding wireless on ships are to be overhauled. A statement- to this effect was made m the House by the Minister of Marine (Mr Anderson). Until the Hippie- disaster occurred, he said, it, had never occurred to him that vessels of that size trading on the coast would require wireless. He was afraid that the Hippie inquiry, which was now being arranged, would not be as satisfactory as could lie wished, because all on board had been drowned. He could assure the House that every consideration would be given to the question of wireless installation. Great opposition would be shown to compelling small vessels to instal wireles.s, but he would be guided by the opinion of the House. Instructions would be given to ensure that officers and men had every facility for learning wireless work.
