“GOD SAVE THE KING”

To the Editor.) Sir, —As there seems to be some doubt about the rate at which our National Anthem is taken by my orchestra at the Empire Pictures, I wish to dispel it by stating that mine is the official military one. His Majesty tile King became weary of the slow, funeral style in which it was usually rendered at the many functions he attended, so at last suggested a quicker “Tempo” which has been adopted and §et forth in the King’s military regulations accordingly. * The new rate is Crotchet equals 84 (Maelzel’a Metronsome). Thanking vou.—l am, etc. JOSEPH KEARSLEY, Mus. Dir. Empire Theatre.
