A''statement was made ,hy ,AJ.r M*V5.sev in the House of Representatives ro foot l and mouth disease. The question was raised by Mr Buddo. who asked whether the Government was taking adequate steps to prevent, the importation into New Zealand of the products of California, which might result in the introduction to New Zealand, of foot and mouth disease. Mr jßuddo thought that eeyrything from the .Californian soil should be prevented fi;om being landed in New Zealand. Thie Prime Minister, gave an assurance that every possible precaution was .being taken to prevent the introduction of the disease. Everyone knew what a disaster it would be if> the disease got here. The Minister of Agriculture had, in the last few days, to stand up to many applications from persons who wanted to bring stuff in from California. Everything had been prohibited; ,
