The Chinese soccer team played their first match against Wairarapa. Ram during the morning made the ground heavy and slippery. Three thousand were present. The visitors played a good game, marked by c.’cvor passing and playing the bail and using their heads as well as their feet. When they get their “land legs” they should give a good account of themselves, .'Specially on dry grounds. The game was drawn, one goal each. The first spell was scoreless, both sides showing good defence.. China pressed early m the second half and Chang notched a goal brilliantly, being loudly applauded. Just on time, through a misunderstanding with the referee, when a free kick was a win ded the home team the Chinese ream si tod aside, allowing Stacey to shoot a goal and equalise. It was a lucky let off for Wairarapa.

Redwoods: Moffatt, Arbuckle, Whiteside; Campbell, Thawley, Brown, Maisey, Simpson, Callaghan, O’Hara, Campbell, Brown.
Mr Claughton will referee the match at Victory Square, and Mr Parker at Redwoods Valley. Referee for junior match, Mr J. S. Walter.
