CHRISTCHURCH PROPERTY MARKET

BIG DEMAND FOR HOUSES (Uy Telegraph.—Special to The Mail.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 14. Excepting in the matter of prices there has been a return practically to pre-war conditions as far as the property market in Christchurch is concerned. Ihe boom which developed at the close of the war is no longer apparent-, and business is being conducted under normal conditions. Band agents who were approached by a reporter on the subject stated that although there was no excitement about the market business was satisfactory. They wore able to make quite a good living although they had to work harder to obtain sale than had been the case a. few months ago. For houses there was quite a big demand, but buyers now took a longer time to make up their minds, and could not be bustled into signing up agreements by being told that others were after the same properties. In the mat ter i.f values the general opinion appears to he that those who are imping to see a substantial drop will be disappointed. For most properties the values placed on them during the past year or two tire being maintained. The finding of houses for renting purposes is one of the big problems that remains unsolved, and rents are still very high.
