Mrs Cohen was found not guilty on a charge of murdering' her child, aged ten months, and was remanded for triar on a second charge of murdering her other child, aged three years. Accused pleaded not guilty and said both deaths were duo to accident. Tho hearing commenced of a claim against the owners of. the Honolulu Maru. It was stated in evidence that the value of the Japanese steamer was £87,000, and the owners of the tug Champion claimed 10 per cent, of this value. The question for the Court to de cide was tho amount of salvage to sia paid as tho salvage of the vessel was not disputed HOBART, This Day. Just- before the steamer Port Hacking arrived the master, Captain Strickland, was found dead on board. MELBOURNE, This Day. Owing to lack of accommodation victims of accidents in urgent need of attention had to be' refused admittance to Melbourne Hospital on Saturday night. A large number were admitted during the day suffering from fractured limbs and other injuries, the floor space having to bo continually used to accommodate patients. By ten o’clock the superintendent issued orders that it was impossible to receive any more male surgical cases. Among those turned away was a- man with a fractured skull. ADELAIDE, This Day. Tho Premier, in the course of a statement, said that one of the first measures to be introduced by the Government will he constitutional reform of Parliament. Ho said it would have to be der'K>erat-is-ed to give effect to the will of the people. Tho Government would endeavour to pass a Bill for proportional representation, also one reducing the Assembly from 46 to 35. PERTH, This Day.
