SHOT AND KILLED
A FORMER WELL-KNOWN BOXER

NEW YORK, June 15.
Bill Brennan, known as “Knockout Bill,” a heavyweight boxer, was shot and killed in'a Trajuana cabaret of which be was the proprietor. James Cullen, a State trooper, was shot in the neck while running to Brennan’s assistance. Janies Hughes and Frank Rassi, believed to-be two of a band of five murderers, are under arrest Brennan was chatting when Hughes asked him to step outside for a moment. Shots were heard just afterwards and Brennan’s sister, an actress known as Shirley Sherman, saia she ran outside and saw five men running away. Tho band, according to the police, are members of “Hell’s Kitchen,’ who had borne a grudge against Brennan for some time. Brennan knocked out 65 opponents and was only knocked out by Dempsey, Firpo and Miske.
