COMMONS DEBATE THIS WEEK PRESS PROMINENCE TO SUBJECT (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.! (Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association.) LONDON. June 15. Sunday papers give prominence to the preference debate in the Commons this week, speculating on the fate of the resolutions. The Sunday Times declares that Parliament ought to debate and settle the question solely in reference to the re action of an adverse vote upon Imperial feeling and opinion. The main point- is whether Empire affairs are to be made the sport of British party politics. The Observer says Labour has its chance to improve on the cheap catchwords and irrelevant issues raised by conventional controversy between tariffs and free trade. The Empire's trade itself is at stake.
