GIRL GUIDES

During her visit 'to Nelson last week, Mrs L .if. Wilson, Organising Commissioner fbr the Girl Guides for New Lealund, visited ancl inspected the All Saints Company. After the inspection she addressed the girls. She reminded them that the Girl Guides., movement was a world wide one, every'country in tin world, having j.no'up.tatteii it up. Tims they had half ', a million sisters, that being the number-of Girl Guides in the ’world tit present. She invited the girls to correspond with Girl Guides in other countries. She then referred to the ideals of the movement, and expressed her pleasure at seeing such a good company at All Saints. The girls were then asked to retire for recreation in the gymnasium, and when they had left, the Commissioner, Mrs L. It. Wilson, briefly addressed the parents and adults, who were present ju good numbers. She asked for their sympathetic co-operation in the work of the Guide movement. Results would not come all at once but they could greatly help by encouraging the girls, and not- expecting too much from them. During the evening the Guides took part in several games. Mrs Wilson met many of the local ministers and friends during her visit, which has created a new interest in the Guide movement. We understand that a Provincial Commissioner for Nelson has been appointed by her, and that vigorous efforts will be made to extend the movement in the district.
