SOUTHAMPTON DISPUTE
IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE INVOLVED
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Reuter's Telegrams.)
LONDON, April 8. Masters and trade union leaders alike admit that the principle behind the Southampton strike is most important. This is shown by the fact that sixteen unions involved ordered separate individual ballots whether to return to- work. The union authority is being challenged by extremists, influenced by communists. Union leaders understand that the crisis can only be met by drastic measures, and it may be necessary to expel the Southampton strikers from tho unions in order to prevent a national lockout.
