The Pall Mall Gazette draws attention to the significance of the appointment of General Weygand, Marshal Foeh.'s chief of staff, as commanderii -chief in Syria in view of any unfavourable outcome at Lausanne. It is hi." e'er stood General Weygand accepted the appointment only on condition that sufficient troops were placed at Irs disposal to hold Syria.
